Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dmitriy Kosarev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Artem Zarencev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Artem Zarencev is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dmitriy Kosarev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Artem Zarencev!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zarencev tries to clinch but Kosarev moves out of range.
Zarencev shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Zarencev fails with a takedown attempt.

Kosarev throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Zarencev was covering up waiting for the punch and Kosarev finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Zarencev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kosarev doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kosarev manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kosarev is really struggling to control Zarencev but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Dmitriy Kosarev has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Zarencev shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Kosarev counters with a nice double leg into side control. Zarencev won't be happy with that.

Kosarev remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Zarencev takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Kosarev is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Zarencev will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Zarencev has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kosarev is working away from the top position though.

Kosarev will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Zarencev doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Kosarev counters with a single leg into guard. Zarencev didn't expect that.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

so Kosarev counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kosarev wants to stand but Zarencev has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Kosarev wants to control from the top but Zarencev keeps moving.

Kosarev drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kosarev jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Kosarev postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Zarencev is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kosarev, into his guard.

Kosarev has his feet on Zarencev's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
