Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doug Hoo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Gable (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hoo comes to the cage accompanied by None. Gable has chosen Rick Derringer - I am a Real American as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Doug Hoo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dan Gable!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoo lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Hoo throws a looping overhand right but Gable ducks down to avoid it.
Gable looks to land a right hand but Hoo moved out of range.
Hoo throws a nice looking combination but Gable bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gable misses with a looping right.
Hoo throws a looping overhand right but Gable ducks down to avoid it.
Gable keeps the fight on the outside.
Hoo misses with a two punch combination.
A shot to the liver by Hoo. Beautiful body shot.
Gable misses with an uppercut. Hoo saw that one coming.
Gable moves out of range as Hoo strikes.
Gable thows a left - swing and a miss!
Nice body punch from Gable.
Hoo stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hoo throws a body punch but Gable moves out of range.
Gable on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Gable loads up on a big right hand but Hoo slips the punch.
Hoo is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Hoo is looking to clinch.

Gable throws a lazy right hand but Hoo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Horrible takedown by Hoo or perhaps it was just good defense by Gable which made him look bad.
Hoo swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Gable counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Doug Hoo has been cut.
Hoo throws a jab when Gable was well out of range.
Hoo misses with a body shot.
Gable scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Hoo throws a sloppy body shot
and Gable counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Gable lands with a cross.
Gable moves out of range as Hoo strikes.
Gable uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hoo.
Hoo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gable.
Gable tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hoo was well out of range. Poor timing from Gable.
Hoo connects with a jab.
Gable might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Gable cracks Hoo with an open hand slap.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gable throws a jab when Hoo was well out of range.
Hoo swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Gable waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hoo.
Hoo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hoo misses with an uppercut. Gable saw that one coming.

Gable controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Hoo trying to control the action but Gable is working from the bottom.
Gable tries to get to full guard but Hoo has control of the leg.
Gable is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Hoo slows the pace down in half guard.

Hoo not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Hoo with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Hoo throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hoo stuffs the takedown attempt from Gable. Gable gets slowly back to his feet.
Gable missing with a left hand there. Hoo was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Gable takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Gable looks gassed!

Gable on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hoo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hoo walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

A looping hook to the body misses from Hoo. Gable does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hoo avoids the body shot from Gable.
Hoo ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Hoo lands a nice looking body shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hoo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gable has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hoo finds it's way round the side to connect with Gable's head.

Hoo feints and as Gable raises his hands in defense, Hoo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hoo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hoo wants to control from the top but Gable keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Doug Hoo dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Doug Hoo's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Gable keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hoo uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gable.
Gable throws a looping overhand right but Hoo ducks down to avoid it.
Gable scores with a nice head shot.
Gable throws out a loose jab but Hoo uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Gable counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hoo!
Hoo is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Gable tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hoo tries to reverse the position but Gable maintains control.
Gable takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hoo is in a horrible position here. Gable smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Gable tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hoo is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hoo tries to hold on but Gable postures up.
Hoo working to try and regain half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gable controlling from mount.
Gable wants to control the pace but Hoo is squirming around nicely.
Gable might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hoo kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gable is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Despite being in the dominant position, Dan Gable just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hoo misses with a series of wild punches.
Hoo lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Gable at a distance.
Hoo just misses with a punch to the body.
Gable ducks right into an uppercut from Hoo.
Hoo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gable manages to avoid it.

Dan Gable showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hoo throws the left hand but Gable avoids the punch easily.

Gable is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hoo's half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gable slows the pace down in half guard.
Let's hope that Gable has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Hoo is looking to improve his position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Gable is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Gable's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Dan Gable.

and Gable counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hoo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Doug Hoo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gable lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Hoo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Gable is not content to let Hoo control the position.
Gable is looking to control Hoo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gable avoid being mounted?
Hoo is looking to take a break and control but Gable is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hoo trying to advance position but Gable counters by regaining guard.
Gable has his hands on Hoo's head, controlling the position.
Hoo trying to control the position from guard on top but Gable is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hoo missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Hoo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Dan Gable comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Gable has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
