The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mupussa shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Slammer manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Slammer looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Mupussa seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Mupussa has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mupussa is looking to take a break and control but Slammer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Pena Mupussa just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

and Mupussa counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Mupussa shoots for a double leg takedown but Slammer sprawls well. He's pushed Mupussa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Slammer can do anything to dispel that myth.
Mupussa is keen to just control but Slammer is a slippery customer.

Mupussa decides to stand back up. Mupussa steps back and let's Slammer get back to his feet.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Slammer has eaten all the pies!

Slammer would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Mupussa counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mupussa.
Slammer is working for takedown but Mupussa is calmly controlling the position for now.
Pena Mupussa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leather Slammer.

Slammer turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Slammer manages to end up in side control.
Mupussa can't do much from the bottom here.

Slammer has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Mupussa gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mupussa pulls Slammer in close to prevent any damage.
Slammer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Slammer tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.

Slammer moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mupussa has worked his arm free - good work by Mupussa!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

I would just about give that final round to Leather Slammer.
