PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mr Fists (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barry Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott has chosen Bang - By Barry Scott as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Mr Fists has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mr Fists seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mr Fists!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Barry Scott!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Steve Erwin and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott misses the jab.
Fists misses with a takedown attempt - Scott sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Scott fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fists manages to avoid it.
Scott slaps away a takedown attempt from Fists, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Scott throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Fists will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Scott misses with an uppercut.
Fists is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Scott.
Fists throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fists really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Fists lands with an uppercut that bounces Scott off the cage and back into rage.
Fists uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Scott.
Fists clobbers Scott with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Fists takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
A clash of legs there as Scott blocks the low kick.
Barry Scott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scott jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Scott throws an overhand right that lands on Fists's shoulder, as Fists tries to avoid the shot.
Fists takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Scott tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Fists was well out of range. Poor timing from Scott.
Scott misses with an uppercut. Fists saw that one coming.
Scott connects with a crisp jab.
Scott misses with a hook. Fists ducked under it nicely.
Fists misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mr Fists. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A big left from Scott misses.

Fists shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Scott's guard.

Fists stands and steps away. Scott gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Fists keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Scott misses the shot to the body.
Scott lands a nice shot to the body.
Fists avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Scott slips under a jab.
Fists tries to clinch there but Scott circles away.
Scott ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Scott misses with a hook. Fists ducked under it nicely.
Fists closes this distance looking for a takedown but Scott circles away.
Fists is breathing heavily.
Scott catches Fists with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Scott throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Scott cracks Fists with a good jab.
Scott connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Fists momentarily.
Scott throws a half hearted mid kick.

Scott uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Scott is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Fists.
Fists tries to close the distance and clinch but Scott swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Fists is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
A swing and a miss from Scott.
Scott digs a good hook to Fists's body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Scott takes a swing at Fists's ribcage but misses.
Scott swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Fists.
Scott thows a left - swing and a miss!
Fists slips a straight right by Scott.
Scott lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Scott dodges the punch combination from Fists.
Fists uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Scott.
Scott throws a hook but Fists blocks it.
Scott is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Fists had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Fists lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Scott circles away quickly and effectively.

Scott darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Scott trying to control the pace.

Fists is trying to stand up here but Scott is controlling him well.
Fists is looking to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Scott is controlling the pace.
Fists has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Scott is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barry Scott dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Scott slaps away a takedown attempt from Fists, before circling back to the center of the mat.

It looks like Barry Scott has been cut.
Fists tries to score a power double leg takedown but Scott sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fists somewhat.
Scott connects with the punch.
Scott jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Fists misses with a jab, cross combination.
Fists misses with a takedown

so Scott counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mr Fists. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fists working for submissions but it's allowed Scott to get to half guard.
Scott content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Scott wants to free his trapped foot but Fists is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Scott passes to side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Scott is looking to take a break and control but Fists is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fists tries to improve position but can't.
Scott moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fists tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Scott sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Fists tries to hold on but Scott postures up.
Scott takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barry Scott showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Fists uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Scott.
Fists misses with a leg kick.
Fists throws a series of strikes that have Scott backpedaling.
Fists throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Scott.
A big right from Scott misses.

Fists gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Scott to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Scott got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fists has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Scott has managed to get both his arms back between Fists's legs - danger averted.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Scott stays in close to Fists's body and controls the position.

Fists working a defensive guard but Scott passes into half guard.
Scott controlling the action here.
Scott's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Fists has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Scott escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Scott!

Fists is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Barry Scott is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Scott trying to control the position but Fists is working away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Scott advances to full mount.
Scott tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Fists is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mr Fists showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Scott has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
