PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ilpo Larha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doug Marshall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marshall has chosen Testify by Rage Against the Machine as his entrance music. Doug Marshall will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ilpo Larha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Doug Marshall!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larha tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Marshall swivels and escapes.
Larha shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Larha shoots for a double leg takedown but Marshall sprawls well. He's pushed Larha's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ilpo Larha. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Larha swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Larha changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Marshall tries to avoid it but Larha manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Marshall to the ground. Marshall escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Marshall tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Marshall connects with a high kick.


It looks like Ilpo Larha has been cut.
Larha tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marshall swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A head kick from Marshall lands but Larha takes it in his stride.
A head kick misses from Marshall.
Larha fails with a takedown attempt.
Larha shoots in and drives through. Marshall sprawls well.
Larha shoots in for a double leg but Marshall sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Larha fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marshall leaves Larha with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Larha crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Marshall - the referee stops the clock and Larha gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Marshall. Larha manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Larha is breathing heavily.
Marshall throws a sloppy head kick and Larha moves out of range easily.
Larha fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ilpo Larha seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Good leg kick by Marshall there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Marshall scores with a head kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Marshall feints a jab and as Larha dips his head, Marshall unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Larha right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Larha falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Marshall smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Doug Marshall!
