Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Van Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Koshcheck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kelly comes to the cage accompanied by Stir It Up. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Van Kelly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Koshcheck!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Lou da Vinci and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kelly connects with a right hand. Koshcheck shakes it off.
Kelly ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Kelly lands a nice looking body shot.
Kelly tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Koshcheck was well out of range. Poor timing from Kelly.
Koshcheck walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Kelly scores with a jab to the head.
Kelly stuns Koshcheck with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Kelly lands a slapping body shot.

Koshcheck closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kelly did well to prevent Koshcheck getting side control.
Kelly tries to get to full guard but Koshcheck has control of the leg.

Koshcheck is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kelly has managed to free his arm - good work.

Kelly is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Koshcheck pulls his head out easily.

The fighters are battling for position here. Kelly manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kelly is looking for a triangle but Koshcheck pushes his legs off easily.

Koshcheck is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Kelly had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Koshcheck defends it easily.

Kelly has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Koshcheck can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Koshcheck tries to free his leg and advance position but Kelly is retaining full guard.

Kelly has his foot on Koshcheck's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Koshcheck works his way back into a safe position though.

Kelly working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Koshcheck doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Koshcheck manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Koshcheck is looking to work some ground and pound but Kelly has wrist control.
Kelly tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Koshcheck throws and elbow that misses. Kelly uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Koshcheck's guard. Nice move by Kelly!

Kelly controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Koshcheck can't keep his opponent in guard - Kelly advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Kelly is nestled in close to Koshcheck, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Kelly is working for a kimura but Koshcheck is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are battling for position here. Koshcheck manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Kelly is pushing down on Koshcheck's leg trying to pass to half guard. Koshcheck is fighting to maintain full guard but Kelly has managed to sneak the leg through.

Kelly is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Koshcheck is just riding it out for now. Kelly eventually gives up the hold.

Kelly is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kelly is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Kelly is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Koshcheck defends it well.
Kelly is looking to take a break and control but Koshcheck is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kelly lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Kelly scores with a hook to the body. Koshcheck takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Kelly changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Koshcheck drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Kelly stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Koshcheck with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Kelly to score with a decent uppercut.
Kelly comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Kelly is looking to wear down Koshcheck with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Kelly scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Koshcheck doesn't seem bothered though.
Kelly stalks Koshcheck and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Koshcheck's face. Koshcheck staggers backwards, shaken.
Kelly fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Kelly darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Kelly lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

It looks like Josh Koshcheck has been cut.
Kelly bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Kelly lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Koshcheck looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Josh Koshcheck is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Koshcheck moves forwards but Kelly connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Kelly throws a series of strikes that have Koshcheck backpedaling.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kelly stuns Koshcheck with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Kelly lands with an overhand left.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kelly, as that shot connected.
Koshcheck takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Kelly's corner calls for a 1-2. Kelly obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Koshcheck tries to move into range but Kelly moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Koshcheck takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
The fighters circle momentarily. Kelly darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Kelly lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Kelly throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Koshcheck stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
