PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sim Polls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Strikes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Sim Polls!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Carlos Strikes!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Richard Clark and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strikes takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Strikes throws a head kick but Polls moves out of range.
Strikes tries to clinch up.

Polls drives through and clinches with Strikes against the cage.
Strikes digs a right hand into Polls's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Polls's gas tank.
Strikes tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Polls avoids it.
Strikes looking to stall.
Strikes is trying to break free.
Strikes is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Polls is keeping busy.
Strikes misses with a punch to the body.
Polls blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Polls on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Strikes slowing the pace effectively.

Strikes trying to control the position but instead, Polls has worked for underhooks and has pushed Strikes into the cage.

Strikes lands a good knee to the midsection. Polls won't want to take too many of those.

Polls drops down looking for an ankle pick but Strikes pulls his leg out and moves away.

Polls tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Strikes was well out of range. Poor timing from Polls.
Polls uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Strikes throws a right hand that Polls ducks under and follows up with a left that Polls also avoids with ease.
Carlos Strikes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Strikes takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

It looks like Carlos Strikes has been cut.

Polls cracks Strikes with a right hand to the side of the head.
A looping hook to the body misses from Polls. Strikes does a little dance to reset his feet.
Strikes closes the distance looking to clinch
and Polls counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
A lazy left from Polls finds it's target.
Strikes throws a half hearted mid kick.
Polls thows a body shot but no joy.
Strikes throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Polls scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Strikes doesn't seem bothered though.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Strikes shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Strikes gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
A punch lands to the side of Strikes 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Polls gets a takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Polls thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Strikes's head.
Polls is controlling the pace.
Polls lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Polls passes into side control, despite Strikes's attempt to control the position.
Strikes tries to buck Polls off but Polls is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Strikes managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Polls.
Strikes is looking to reverse the position.
Strikes is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Polls off and has taken his back!
Polls rolls, trying to escape but Strikes keeps control of the position.
Polls trying to control but not successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Strikes trying to control momentarily.

Strikes has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Polls has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Carlos Strikes's cut.
That's time! Polls's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Polls lands a nice hook to Strikes's body. Strikes takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Strikes throws a right hand that Polls ducks under and follows up with a left that Polls also avoids with ease.
Polls misses the shot to the body.
Strikes on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Polls stuns Strikes with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Polls misses with a wild body shot.
Polls scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Polls is looking to wear down Strikes with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Strikes clinches but Polls breaks the clinch
and Polls counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Polls works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Polls scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Strikes doesn't seem bothered though.

Polls closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Polls has Strikes pressed against the cage, preventing Strikes from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Polls's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Polls drops down looking for an ankle pick but Strikes pulls his leg out and moves away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Strikes takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Carlos Strikes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Polls takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Strikes wants to clinch
and Polls counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Polls lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Strikes uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Polls.

and Polls counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Strikes thinking.
Polls takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Polls thuds his right hand into Strikes's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Strikes lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Polls has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Polls and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Strikes is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Donk. Polls catches Strikes right on the button with a cross.
Polls lands a right hook to the body.
Strikes throws a right and a left that both miss.
Strikes throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Polls counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Polls is looking to advance position but Strikes won't allow it.
Polls looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Polls has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Polls with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Polls is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Strikes!

Sim Polls showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Polls, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
