Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tatsuya Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Martin comes to the ring accompanied by Freude schöner Götter Funken. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Peter Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tatsuya Kimura!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Fujiwara and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Kimura throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Martin's head.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Martin.

Martin scores a takedown into full mount!
Martin fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Martin is looking to stand but Martin has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Kimura really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Kimura tries to hold on but Martin postures up.
Martin breaks from Kimura's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Kimura is controlling an arm, preventing Martin from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Martin is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kimura to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kimura shrugs it off.
Kimura is wriggling around trying to escape.

Martin is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kimura can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Martin has hold of Kimura's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kimura manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kimura wants to hold on but Martin pushes him away.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Martin looking to ground and pound but Kimura is blocking nicely.
Kimura is looking to improve his position but Martin isn't that keen on the idea.
Martin wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

Martin has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kimura's face.

Martin pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Martin stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Kimura looks gassed!
Martin shoots for a double leg takedown but Kimura sprawls well. He's pushed Martin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Martin moves in looking to clinch but Kimura pushes him off.
Kimura throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Martin's head.

Kimura tries to close the distance and clinch up but Martin swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Martin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Martin swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kimura.
Martin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Martin misses with a takedown attempt - Kimura sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Martin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Martin is working for takedown but Kimura is calmly controlling the position for now.
Martin gets underhooks to prevent Kimura's takedown attempt.
Kimura with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Peter Martin has been cut.
Martin avoiding damage as Kimura throws knees to the body.

Kimura unloads a knee to the mid-section. Martin lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Kimura breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Tatsuya Kimura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kimura connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Kimura is looking to clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kimura tries to clinch but Martin moves away
and Martin counters with a head kick.

Kimura takes the fight into the clinch.
Martin fails to pull the fight into his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Kimura tries to clinch but Martin is having none of it.
Kimura rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Martin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kimura stuffs the takedown attempt from Martin. Martin gets slowly back to his feet.
Kimura lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Peter Martin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Martin shoots for a takedown but Kimura saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kimura wants to clinch

and Martin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kimura won't be happy with that.

Martin wants to control but Kimura is keeping him busy.
Martin wants to stand but Kimura is controlling his arm.
Kimura regains half guard.
Martin not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Martin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kimura is just riding it out for now. Martin eventually gives up the hold.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kimura is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Martin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Martin's back!
Martin is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Kimura's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Martin rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Kimura is looking to take a break and control but Martin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kimura wants to clinch.

Kimura clinches.
Kimura landing knees to the body.

Kimura gets control of Martin's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kimura will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Kimura pulls Martin in close to his closed guard and prevents Martin from doing any damage or advancing position.
Kimura wants to sweep but no luck.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Martin lands a couple of elbows.
Martin trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kimura's guard.
Kimura working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Martin.
Martin throws a strike but Kimura rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Martin wants to stand up but Kimura is controlling him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kimura misses with a jab, cross combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Tatsuya Kimura will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Martin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Martin is trying to get an arm triangle but Kimura is defending well.
Kimura manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Martin wants to pass the guard but Kimura is defending well.

Martin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kimura wants to control but Martin is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Martin trying to control the action but Kimura is working from the bottom.
Kimura is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Martin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kimura knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Martin tries to bum rush Kimura with a series of wild strikes but Kimura uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Kimura has managed to clinch.
Martin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kimura is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kimura looking to throw knees to the head but Martin is blocking nicely.
Kimura using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Martin has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Kimura breaks from the clinch.
Kimura misses with a body shot.
Martin shoots in for a takedown but Kimura shows good takedown defense.
Kimura slips a jab and a cross from Martin.
Kimura takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Kimura fails with an attempt to clinch.

Martin shoots in and bounces Kimura off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
Kimura seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Kimura looking for a sweep. Not yet Kimura, not yet.
Martin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Martin trying to control the position from guard on top but Kimura is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kimura is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Martin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kimura dives on top into guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
