Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Morris McDonald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Paul Sullivan!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonald fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Sullivan blocks a head kick by McDonald.

McDonald darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Sullivan wants to control but McDonald is keeping busy.
McDonald looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

McDonald is looking for a kimura here.

McDonald is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sullivan is just riding it out for now. McDonald eventually gives up the hold.

McDonald trying to mount his opponent but Sullivan defends it.
Sullivan is trying is best to control the position here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McDonald misses with a wild body shot.
Sullivan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Sullivan gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and McDonald counters with a shoot takedown. Sullivan fights it but they end up in guard.
Sullivan wants to sweep here but McDonald controlling him for the moment.
McDonald slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
McDonald pushing down on Sullivan's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
McDonald not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sullivan has hold of McDonald's hands but McDonald slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
McDonald lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Sullivan is looking to escape.
Sullivan is looking to improve his position.
Sullivan keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
McDonald works his way into side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McDonald is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Sullivan's shoulder. That is not cool.
McDonald advances to mount.
McDonald can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sullivan is looking to escape.
McDonald sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

McDonald misses the shot to the body.
McDonald paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Morris McDonald seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McDonald looks for the body kick but Sullivan saw that one coming.
Sullivan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McDonald.
McDonald tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
McDonald looks to land a right hand but Sullivan moved out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sullivan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McDonald paws at him with a jab and circles away.

McDonald gets underhooks to prevent Sullivan's takedown attempt.

Sullivan is fighting off a takedown attempt but McDonald is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sullivan to the mat. Sullivan regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Sullivan tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sullivan preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Sullivan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
McDonald working some strikes from top position.
McDonald slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
McDonald is looking to take a break and control but Sullivan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McDonald is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Sullivan is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
McDonald is looking to take a break and control but Sullivan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

McDonald advances nicely into full mount.
Sullivan can't escape the position.

The referee warns Sullivan that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
McDonald controlling his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sullivan is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

McDonald cracks Sullivan with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Sullivan tries to hold on but McDonald pushes him away.
McDonald landing strikes, looking to finish!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Morris McDonald dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Sullivan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McDonald.
McDonald swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
An inside leg kick lands from McDonald.
Sullivan moves out of range as McDonald throws a body kick.
McDonald goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Sullivan gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and McDonald counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sullivan's guard now.
Morris McDonald overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McDonald looking to sit in guard and control but Sullivan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Sullivan has gone for a leg lock! McDonald slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sullivan's guard.

McDonald is pushing down on Sullivan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sullivan is fighting to maintain full guard but McDonald has managed to sneak the leg through.

McDonald is working for a submission of some sort.
McDonald wants to free his trapped foot but Sullivan is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

McDonald is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sullivan sees it coming and defends easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
McDonald lands with a punch from half guard.
Sullivan wants to control but McDonald is keeping busy and won't allow it.
McDonald slips a nice elbow through Sullivan's hands, connecting with Sullivan's forehead.

McDonald is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Sullivan has managed to free his arm - good work.
McDonald wants to take a breather but Sullivan is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McDonald stops Sullivan from getting back to his feet.
Sullivan is controlling McDonald's trapped leg to prevent McDonald from advancing to side control.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
McDonald with the ground and pound but Sullivan uses the opportunity to regain guard.
McDonald sitting in guard, not really doing much.
McDonald trying to control but Sullivan is working from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McDonald won't allow Sullivan to sweep him here.

Sullivan wants to stand up but McDonald is controlling him.
Morris McDonald is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
McDonald slips nicely into half guard.

Paul Sullivan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
McDonald passes to side control.

Morris McDonald showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for McDonald, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
