PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Strikes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Barnsley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Dean Barnsley was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Carlos Strikes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dean Barnsley!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Chris Edwards and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barnsley shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Strikes manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Barnsley sitting in guard here, content to control.
Strikes wants to stand up but Barnsley is controlling him.
Strikes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Barnsley stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Strikes misses with a series of wild punches.
Strikes fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Barnsley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Barnsley rushes Strikes and presses him up against the cage.

Strikes breaks from the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Strikes swats away the attempt to clinch by Barnsley.

Barnsley closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Barnsley is trying to control the action in half guard but Strikes is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Barnsley stalling away here and it's allowed Strikes to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Strikes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Strikes looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Strikes is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Strikes keeping moving, preventing Barnsley from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Barnsley stays in close to Strikes's body and controls the position.
Strikes looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Strikes goes for a high kick. It partially lands.


It looks like Dean Barnsley has been cut.
Barnsley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Strikes swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Strikes throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A head kick from Strikes lands but Barnsley takes it in his stride.
Strikes circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Barnsley to the canvas! Barnsley doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Strikes keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carlos Strikes!
