PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alphonso Biggio (ranked 3082 p4p, 4884 weight class) and Bruna Faria (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Biggio comes to the cage accompanied by Time to go down song. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

Biggio darts in and clinches Faria up against the cage.

Biggio manages to break the clinch.
Biggio fails to land with a series of punches.
Faria misses with a takedown attempt - Biggio sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Faria closes the distance and clinches up with Biggio, looking for a takedown. Faria pushes Biggio against the cage but Biggio circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Biggio has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Faria regains guard immediately.

The referee asks Biggio politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Biggio prefers to stall for the moment though.
Biggio has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Biggio's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Biggio is pressed up against the cage. Faria has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Biggio down to the mat. Biggio avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Biggio has Faria pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Biggio pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Faria tumbling to the mat - Biggio dives into Faria's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Faria seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Faria looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Faria takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Faria has hold of Biggio's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Biggio manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Biggio is stinking the place up with his stalling.
Faria is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Faria tries to roll over but Biggio keeps him under control.
Faria has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Biggio is working away from the top position though.

Biggio is working for a kimura but Faria is defending it quite comfortably.

Biggio is taking a breather. Faria says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Faria throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Alphonso Biggio decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
