PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Moganesh Jain (ranked 782 p4p, 616 weight class) and Glass Joe (ranked 42 p4p, 34 weight class). Jain comes to the cage accompanied by The Monkey King. Joe has chosen La Marseillaise as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Moganesh Jain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Glass Joe!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and James Glass.

Joe missing with a left hand there. Jain was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Jain swings widly with a right hand
and Joe counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Jain waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Joe.

Jain bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Jain is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Joe.
A decent looking cross lands there for Jain.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Joe swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Joe throws a looping overhand right but Jain ducks down to avoid it.

Jain closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Joe quickly recovers to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jain wants to free his trapped foot but Joe is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Jain is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Joe defends it well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Joe jabbing away but nothing is landing.

and Joe counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Glass Joe is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Joe looks to land a right hand but Jain moved out of range.

Joe on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Jain tries to score a power double leg takedown but Joe sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jain somewhat.

Moganesh Jain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jain goes for a double leg but Joe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Joe continues to drive forward.
Joe throws out a counter right but Jain avoids it with no problem.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Moganesh Jain. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jain ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Joe moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Glass Joe dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Joe drops his hands momentarily and Jain takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Jain shoots for a double leg takedown but Joe sprawls well. He's pushed Jain's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Joe might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Jain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Joe keeps working.

Jain thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Joe felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Jain is looking to work his way around to Joe's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Moganesh Jain overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jain is controlling the position but Joe somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

A lazy left from Jain finds it's target.
Jain throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Joe on the side of the head.

Jain goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Joe has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jain but great work by Joe.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jain is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Joe has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
