Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thor Hammer (ranked 1623 p4p, 1149 weight class) and Yacob Nilsen (ranked 224 p4p, 167 weight class). Nilsen is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Lil Wayne - Right above it. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Nilsen takes a swing at Hammer's ribcage but misses.
A quick step to the side and Hammer tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nilsen scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Hammer pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hammer ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Nilsen throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Hammer takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Nilsen has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Hammer is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Yacob Nilsen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That kick from Nilsen tenderised Hammer's leg. Hammer is trying to keep his angry face on.

Nilsen connects with a right hand. Hammer shakes it off.

Nilsen lands a nice shot to the body.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nilsen feints and then cracks Hammer's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hammer down.

Nilsen moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Nilsen! But no joy.
Hammer drops his hands momentarily and Nilsen takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Hammer has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Nilsen.
Nilsen throws a sloppy head kick and Hammer moves out of range easily.

Hammer throws a quick counter kick to the body but Nilsen avoids it.

A low kick from Nilsen is predictable there
and Hammer counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
A left lands for Nilsen.
Nilsen throws a quick inside leg kick.
Nilsen slips a jab from Hammer.
Nilsen digs a good hook to Hammer's body.
Nilsen fails with the takedown
and Nilsen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nilsen scores with a body shot.
Hammer ducks right into an uppercut from Nilsen.
Hammer takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Nilsen tries to bum rush Hammer with a series of wild strikes but Hammer uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nilsen's corner calls for a 1-2. Nilsen obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nilsen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hammer but Hammer pushes him off and we're back to square one.
It looked like Hammer was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Nilsen.

Nilsen swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nilsen connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Nilsen ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Nilsen jabbing away but nothing is landing.
It looked like Hammer wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Nilsen lands a right hook to the body.

Hammer lands a big head kick that sends Nilsen tumbling to the mat! Hammer takes a step backwards and waves Nilsen back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Yacob Nilsen has been cut.
Nilsen misses with a right hand

and Hammer counters with a nice right hand that sends Nilsen toppling to the canvas! Nilsen scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Hammer finish him?!

Nilsen is rocked!
Nilsen dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hammer. That did some damage!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nilsen throws a body punch but Hammer moves out of range.

and Hammer counters with a crisp right hand that drops Nilsen! Hammer lets Nilsen back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Nilsen is still on wobbly legs! Can Hammer finish him?

and Hammer counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Nilsen out cold! What a finish! Hammer is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Thor Hammer!
Thor Hammer bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
