Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Farto Fuerte (ranked 3838 p4p, 5497 weight class) and Jake Smith (ranked 447 p4p, 534 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Farto Fuerte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Smith!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Anthony Taglia and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith circles away from the clinch attempt.
Smith throws a big shot that misses.
It looked like Fuerte was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Smith misses with a hook.
Fuerte misses with a series of wild punches.
Smith throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fuerte.
Fuerte fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Fuerte throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Smith sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A combination from Smith does no damage.
Fuerte throws a big counter combination but Smith scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Smith feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Fuerte wants to stand but Smith is controlling the position.
Smith wants to control from the top but Fuerte keeps moving.
Fuerte is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Smith is controlling him.
Fuerte preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Smith missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Smith with a flurry of punches that miss.
Smith has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Smith prevents Fuerte from getting back to his feet.
Fuerte has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Smith throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fuerte works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Fuerte wants to stand up but Smith is controlling him.

Smith drops back looking for a leg! Fuerte is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fuerte manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Fuerte's guard.
Fuerte is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Smith doesn't manage to clinch there - Fuerte circles away.
Fuerte throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Smith darts in looking for a takedown but Fuerte gets double underhooks and turns Smith into the ropes.

My spies in Outlier Martial Arts inform me that Smith has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Fuerte preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Fuerte scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Fuerte throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Smith.
Fuerte wants to clinch up but Smith keeps it at a distance.
Smith fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Smith clinches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith tries to score a body lock takedown but Fuerte shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Farto Fuerte has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Smith.
Smith throws a punch but it's blocked by Fuerte.
Fuerte lands with a left to the head.
Fuerte is pressed up against the ropes. Smith has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Fuerte down to the mat. Fuerte avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Smith buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Fuerte takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Fuerte throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Smith sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Fuerte moves in looking to clinch but Smith pushes him off.
Fuerte tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance.
Smith wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Smith throws a body shot but no joy.
Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by Fuerte.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jake Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Smith has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
