PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Boaler (ranked 2302 p4p, 1419 weight class) and David Jones (ranked 36 p4p, 73 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tom Boaler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Jones!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Sergei Dronov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones lands with a hook. Boaler tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Jones lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Boaler tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jones defends well and Boaler ends up having to push Jones into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Tom Boaler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boaler will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
It seemed like Jones was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Boaler throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Jones counters with a stiff right hand.

Boaler shoots in and gets a takedown into Jones's guard.
Boaler trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Boaler manages to get himself to full guard.

Boaler wants to sweep but no luck.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boaler swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Boaler is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Boaler. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Boaler passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Jones!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Boaler has taken his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Will Boaler go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Boaler has the hooks in. Jones is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Jones is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Jones is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Boaler.
Jones is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boaler controlling well, preventing Jones from escaping the position.

Boaler is cranking Jones's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Jones! He's tightened the choke and Jones is tapping out!
