This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 7 losses; Shanti Anatta! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 4 losses; Thad Thayer!
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Anatta jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Thayer walks away with a smile on his face. Anatta gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Thayer rushes Anatta and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Anatta is trying to pull guard but Thayer has him pressed against the ropes.
Thayer gets control of Anatta's arms and successfully pulls guard. Thayer will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Anatta tries to free his leg and advance position but Thayer is retaining full guard.
Anatta not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Anatta wants to control from the top but Thayer keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Anatta tries to advance to mount but Thayer denies him.
Anatta is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Thayer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Anatta tries to move to full mount but Thayer actually manages to regain half guard.

Thayer is not content to let Anatta control the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Anatta wants to work for an arm triangle but Thayer is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Thayer is refusing to be controlled, as Anatta sits in half guard.
Thayer tries to roll over but Anatta keeps him under control.
Thayer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Anatta is working away from the top position though.
Anatta takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Thayer won't allow Anatta to pass to mount.

Anatta has control of Thayer's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Thayer regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Anatta is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Thayer is surviving well by controlling Anatta's body position as best he can.

Anatta is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Anatta extends the arm and Thayer is forced to tap!
