Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Leo Varga!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.





The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Varga swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Perez counters with a body kick that stops Varga in his tracks momentarily.
Varga misses with the combination.
Varga throws a big shot that misses.
Perez lands a front kick.

Perez dives in and scores a takedown into Varga's guard.

Perez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Perez trying to control the position from guard on top but Varga is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Perez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Varga tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Perez wants to pass the guard but Varga is keeping the position.
Varga really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Perez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Perez advances to half guard.
Perez is taking a breather. Varga says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Varga trying to control but Perez postures up.
Varga is trying to get back to full guard.

Perez seems to be looking for submissions.
Perez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Varga keeps working.

Varga is looking to improve his position.
Perez is looking to advance position but Varga won't allow it.
Perez controlling the action here.
Varga wants to improve his position but Perez is controlling well.
Perez prevents Varga from standing back up.
Varga trying to get back to full guard but Perez takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Varga looks winded!

Perez is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Varga is surviving well by controlling Perez's body position as best he can.

Perez is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Varga can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Perez is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Varga has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Perez trying to control but Varga is having none of it.
Varga keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Perez jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Varga manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Varga is trying to work for a sweep but Perez has mounted him!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Perez controlling the position easily from mount.
Perez in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrew Perez dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Varga tries to clinch but Perez moves out of range.
Andrew Perez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Varga wants to clinch.
Perez half committed to a counter leg kick.
Perez takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Varga slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

It looks like Andrew Perez has been cut.
Varga looks to land a combination but Perez avoids it well.

Perez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Perez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Varga can do to turn this around?
Varga is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Perez has hold of Varga's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Varga tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Perez cranks the arm and Varga screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Varga, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
