TWGC 29 (265lbs, D1): Amsterdam Qualifier - Round 2 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Tsuyoi Kakuto (ranked 1313 p4p, 187 weight class) and Rui Rodrigo Germano (ranked 14209 p4p, 688 weight class). Kakuto comes to the cage accompanied by Gorillaz-Dirty Harry. Germano has chosen HIM - Don't Fear The Reaper as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Tsuyoi Kakuto has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Tsuyoi Kakuto seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 9 losses; Rui Rodrigo Germano!

Kakuto had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Germano defends it easily.

Germano seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Germano escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kakuto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kakuto controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Germano is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kakuto is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kakuto is fighting to break Germano's control of his arms but Germano is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Kakuto slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Germano slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Germano is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Kakuto has latched onto it... Big trouble! Kakuto pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Germano is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Kakuto!
