Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Manny Puno (ranked 57 p4p, 36 weight class) and Nick Shamrock (ranked 11 p4p, 8 weight class). Shamrock has chosen One Winged Angel by The Black Mages as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 2, fighting out of New York, Manny Puno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 45 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Nick Shamrock!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Sano and Ren Mimura.

Puno shoots in and bounces Shamrock off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Puno throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Shamrock is looking to stand up but Puno isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Puno throws a big right hand that misses.
Puno has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Shamrock wants to stand and escape but Puno is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've been hearing that Puno has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Puno stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shamrock swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Puno shoots in for a takedown but Shamrock shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Shamrock flicks out a counter leg kick but Puno steps away.
Puno throws out a loose jab but Shamrock uses good head movement to avoid it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shamrock turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Puno throws a body punch but Shamrock moves out of range.
Shamrock tries a quick counter leg kick but Puno is wise to it.

Puno ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shamrock moves away.
A little jabbing left from Shamrock on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Puno connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Shamrock's hands.

Puno shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Puno was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Puno wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shamrock keeps working.
Shamrock is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Puno is controlling him well.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Shamrock is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Puno asserts his dominance and retains side control.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Shamrock throws a nice inside leg kick.
Shamrock has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Puno will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Puno scores with a crisp jab that stopped Shamrock in his tracks.
Puno throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Shamrock walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Puno throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shamrock's waist but Shamrock gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Puno off to one side.

Shamrock's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Puno connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Shamrock scrambles back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Shamrock is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Puno has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Shamrock sneaks out the side door and pushes Puno away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Manny Puno seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Puno misses with an uppercut. Shamrock saw that one coming.
Puno shoots for a takedown but Shamrock saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Puno looks to throw the jab but Shamrock is out of range.
Puno connects with a good right hand that stumbles Shamrock. Shamrock circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
