Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Buffalo Marley (ranked 399 p4p, 53 weight class) and Boss Yonic (ranked 433 p4p, 59 weight class). Marley comes to the cage accompanied by Welcome to Jamrock. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marley tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Yonic paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Yonic isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Marley stacks Yonic on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Marley!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marley postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Marley remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

I was talking to Marley's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Yonic wants the takedown. Marley is fighting it off but Yonic persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Marley's guard against the cage.

Yonic has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Marley is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Yonic.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Buffalo Marley.
