PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between David Haller (ranked 3350 p4p, 89 weight class) and Irvine Kinneas (ranked 1797 p4p, 45 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kinneas's choice of entrance music: Judas Priest - Electric Eye. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 7 - 3, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Haller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 8 - 1, fighting out of London, Irvine Kinneas!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Kenichi Hosakawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haller moves out of range of the body kick from Kinneas.
David Haller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kinneas throws a sloppy head kick and Haller moves out of range easily.
Haller throws a body shot but no joy.
Kinneas on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Haller lands with a hook. Kinneas tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Haller throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Haller lands a leg kick that knocks Kinneas off balance momentarily.
Kinneas throws a jab but it's blocked by Haller.
Haller tries to clinch up.
Kinneas tries to counter with a clinch but Haller shakes him off and moves away.
Haller ducks under a wild hook from Kinneas.
Haller throws a counter high kick but Kinneas was just alert enough to avoid it.
Haller fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kinneas has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kinneas is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Haller.
Haller thuds his right hand into Kinneas's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Haller tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Kinneas manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kinneas has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Haller.

and Haller counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Kinneas tries to land a front kick but Haller steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Kinneas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Haller feints and then cracks Kinneas's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kinneas down.

Kinneas motions for Haller to come forward. Kinneas throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Haller is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Kinneas.
Kinneas thumps Haller with a low kick.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kinneas rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Haller counters with a low kick, right behind Kinneas 's knee.
Kinneas takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Haller fakes the leg kick and cracks Kinneas in the body.
Haller swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Haller scores with a nice head shot.
Good leg kick by Haller there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Haller takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Kinneas throws a predictable looking body shot
and Haller counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kinneas takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Kinneas's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Haller moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Haller is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Kinneas just misses with a punch to the body.

That kick from Haller tenderised Kinneas's leg. Kinneas is trying to keep his angry face on.
Kinneas looks to land a left hand but Haller moved out of range nicely.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Haller moves out of range of the strikes.
Kinneas throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Haller sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Despite the aggression on Kinneas's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Haller dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Haller pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

I would just about give that final round to Irvine Kinneas.
Well Haller has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
