Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vince Neil (ranked 1476 p4p, 195 weight class) and James McGuire (ranked 1711 p4p, 219 weight class). Neil kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Wild Side. McGuire has chosen Metallica - Enter Sandman as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Vince Neil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James McGuire!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Neil tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McGuire was well out of range. Poor timing from Neil.
Neil cracks McGuire with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.


It looks like James McGuire has been cut.
Neil fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McGuire manages to avoid it.
McGuire misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Neil scores with a nice head shot.
Neil keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Neil cracks McGuire with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

McGuire has managed to clinch.
Neil tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Neil has McGuire pressed against the cage, preventing McGuire from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
I was talking to Neil's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

McGuire breaks the clinch.
McGuire fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Neil manages to avoid it.
McGuire ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Neil lands a front kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Neil misses with a body kick.
McGuire doesn't manage to clinch there - Neil circles away.
Neil lands with an overhand left.
Neil cracks McGuire with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.


That has opened up James McGuire's cut even more.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McGuire moves out of range of the strikes.
A looping hook to the body misses from McGuire. Neil does a little dance to reset his feet.
McGuire cracks Neil with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
McGuire blocks a head kick by Neil.
Neil throws a front kick that sends McGuire stumbling back into the cage.
Neil throws a sloppy head kick and McGuire moves out of range easily.
Neil lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
McGuire lands a nice shot that snaps Neil's head back.

McGuire sends Neil crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! McGuire is motioning to the referee to let Neil up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!


Neil is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McGuire misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Oh Neil is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Neil is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. McGuire doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Neil crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Neil's bad books for that mishap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). James McGuire!
James McGuire really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Velocity Fightwear logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
