The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valentine tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hamilton swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Valentine tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hamilton defends well and Valentine ends up having to push Hamilton into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Hamilton moves into the clinch.
Valentine throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Valentine is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hamilton is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Valentine to the mat. Valentine regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
