Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boa Link (ranked 6978 p4p, 694 weight class) and Luukas Porvola (ranked 5852 p4p, 633 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Link might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Peak Times by Switch. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Porvola throws a series of punches but Link avoids them all with ease.

Link shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Porvola but Porvola pushes him off and we're back to square one.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Giou.
Giou has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Giou really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

and Reed counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Reed.
Reed lands a left hand.
Giou tries to pull guard but Reed won't allow it.

He's trying desperately to grab hold of Reed around the waist but Reed pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Reed is the winner by TKO! Reed jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kotrc enables Vizsla to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kotrc manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Cobb tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Greene manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Pavlov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kubota's waist but Kubota gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pavlov off to one side.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
Kubota is looking to slow Pavlov down with leg kicks.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Pavlov crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kubota - the referee stops the clock and Pavlov gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kubota. Pavlov manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

This has been an exciting period of action!

A less than humble Takeru Kubota misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
Matvey Pavlov spoke after the fight, saying 'Honestly shocked I haven't lost sooner. Never Boxed or done Muay Thai a day in my life. This MMA thing was temporary until some grappling orgs came about'.
