Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cody Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Emanuel Rodrigez!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Alyssa Summers and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Miller tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rodrigez changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Rodrigez takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Rodrigez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rodrigez lands in his opponent's guard.
Rodrigez tries to free his leg and advance position but Miller is retaining full guard.
Miller being controlled here, momentarily.
Rodrigez throws a big right hand that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rodrigez controls from within his opponent's guard.

Miller is wriggling around but Rodrigez manages to pass to half guard.
Rodrigez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Rodrigez stands up and beckons Miller to join him on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A big right from Rodrigez misses.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rodrigez.
Miller swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
A slapping leg kick lands for Miller.

Rodrigez moves into the clinch successfully.
Miller avoiding damage as Rodrigez throws knees to the body.
Miller misses with a short punch on the inside.

Rodrigez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rodrigez shoots for a double leg takedown but Miller sprawls well. He's pushed Rodrigez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Cody Miller is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rodrigez.
Cody Miller has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Emanuel Rodrigez.
Donk. Miller catches Rodrigez right on the button with a cross.

Oooooh!!! Miller has knocked Rodrigez down with a huge combo! Miller steps away and waves a wobbly Rodrigez back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Rodrigez dives in and grabs Miller's left leg, looking for a takedown. Miller pushes down on Rodrigez's head and hops out.

Miller seems to be stalking Rodrigez here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastating head kick! Rodrigez drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!

Nakamura takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It looks like Kenji Nakamura has been cut.
Banks lands with a right and another and another! Nakamura is in big trouble! Banks lands again and this time it's lights out for Nakamura ! A quality knockout there for Banks.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Marshall Banks!
In his post fight interview, Marshall Banks gave a big smile as he said 'I knew i would KO this man, nobody can take those shots but hes just a step on my path to greatness. There's no time to celebrate just laugh and wait.'.

Sapolu drops his hands momentarily and Lydon takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Lydon moves into range and clinches up with Sapolu.

Lydon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lydon throws a right and a left that Sapolu avoids nicely.

Sapolu tries to keep at a distance but Lydon has taken the fight into the clinch.
Sapolu misses with a punch on the inside.
Sapolu tries a knee to the head but Lydon blocks it.

Lydon lands a body punch in the clinch.
Lydon pushes Sapolu back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Lydon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sapolu has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Sapolu there as he acknowledges the shot.

I was talking to Sapolu's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Lydon is looking to break free of the clinch but Sapolu has double underhooks.

Lydon has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Sapolu takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Sapolu moves into the clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Sapolu tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Lydon breaks from the clinch.

Lydon lands a big head kick that sends Sapolu tumbling to the mat! Lydon takes a step backwards and waves Sapolu back to his feet - he wants the finish!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Lydon has closed the distance and engaged Sapolu in a clinch.
Lydon stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Lydon cracks Sapolu with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Lydon has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Sapolu to stand back up!

Mickey Sapolu's cut is getting worse.
Sapolu pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Oh Sapolu is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sapolu has taken the fight to the clinch.

Sapolu tries to work over Lydon's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Sapolu seems to have got his legs back now.
Sapolu lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
A head punch on the inside from Sapolu fails to land.
Sapolu scores with a nice hook to the head.
Sapolu works on Lydon's body with a couple of short punches.
Sapolu lands a knee to the head.

Lydon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lydon throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Sapolu colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Lydon as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Sapolu is left battered and dazed whilst Lydon and his camp cheer!

We've been told by Cup's head coaches at Rabid Dog that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Rydeland rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cup moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Cup takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Rydeland lands a glancing blow to the side of Cup's head.
Cup lands with a straight right. Rydeland didn't see that one coming.

Cup moves out of range of the strikes.

Cup shoots in looking for a takedown. Rydeland tries to sprawl out of it but Cup keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rydeland manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Rydeland lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Rydeland.

Cup is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rydeland fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Cup out cold! Brutal finish!
